Presenting Dashboards as web page

Post by Cragdoo »

Looking for some advice on how other Veeam MP users present their dashboards as web pages for display in NOC centers etc ?

I know you can do this via Sharepoint, but I'd rather avoid that if possible.

I have only come across 2 other products that facilitate this , https://www.savision.com/scom-dashboards and http://squaredup.com/ , are there any others?

I did come across a possible solution from Veeam, a good article from Charles Clarke https://vmcharlie.wordpress.com/2015/07 ... -explorer/

Any pointers/suggestions would be great.

Hi Craig
Here's the pre-tweet version of a blog post highlighting some custom dashboard examples. These have pretty much all been driven or inspired by customer request.
Hope it's useful and please provide feedback. If you have any cool ideas (that I can do :-)) I'll expand the post and tweet at that time.
Cheers
C

Thanks Charles , those are all good examples. In particular the Host heatmap in the Flexpod dashboard. this is something I am currently working on, although in my version the tile size is CPU utilisation and colour is Memory usage. I'm also in talks with SquaredUp, while working on presenting the SCOM metric via a more user friendly web interface. Will keep you posted on how it is going.

Hi,

Have to add my 2 cents.

First of all - we already have some examples in the ResourceKit which allow you to publish highly customized dashboards as web-pages. I'm afraid this is SharePoint realted for now, but maybe not (aditional research is required). I'm talking about PowerView feature, it's available in MS Excel and can be published to SharePoint, but I beleive to other places too. Here is how it looks in our PowerPivot example which is available in the ResourceKit.

Also, did you know that your already have a powerful HTML-based resource for displaying dashboards and other data visualizations? No, I'm not talking about OM web client :). It's SRS - a SQL server platform for SCOM reporting. And you can already do some cool stuff with it. Take a look - I've opened a Storage Performance Profile report and saved it with pre-configured parameters in the User's folder. After that you can open it using the following link:

Code: Select all

http://sg-scom/ReportServer?%2fUsers+Folders%2fNWORKS+sg%2fMy+Reports%2fStorage+Performance+Profile+Analysis+(4+weeks)&rc%3aToolbar=false
Where sg-scom is my SRS (SCOM Reporting) server, (Users+Folders...My+Reports) is a standrd path to SRS and SCOM Reporting User's folder and "Storage Performance Profile Analysis (4 weeks)" is the name of the saved customized Report - you need to customize it so that it doesn't ask for parameters and renders immediately. Here is the result, "Toolbar=false" is the trick that enables report to be embedded almost everywhere.

And Microsoft recently released their PowerBI platform, I'll look into possibilities our Management Pack is opening for monitoring Virtual Infrastructure on this platform. Looks like data analysis tools, especialy cloud-based are creating more and more buzz.
