v8 Advanced scalability mode

Post by ori »

Hi,
I have tried to search but I didn't find enough documentation on this, only for previous versions but it seems to have changed in 8.
What exactly are differences between Typical and Advanced Scalability, what do we "lose" by using this mode, what's not collected?

Hello Ori,
You lose nothing using the Advanced Scalability mode, the main difference is longer timeouts. Are you using VMware or Hyper-V infrastructure?
Thanks!

VMWare.
So it doesn't affect the type of collected counters or frequency of data collection and aggregation?

Let me double-check this with developers to be 100% sure.
I`ll write back once I have the information confirmed. Thanks.

Developers confirmed that the difference between Typical and Advanced modes is in the intervals and time-outs.

For VMware the difference is in the next parameters:

∙ Timeout for collecting VMware vSphere real-time performance data: 5min for Typical against 20min for Advanced Scalability
∙ Sampling renewal interval for real-time counters: 20sec for Typical, 5min for Advanced

∙ Timeout for importing historical performance data from VMware vSphere servers: 15min - 30 mins
∙ Sampling renewal interval for historical counters: 5min - 20min

∙ Updating Tree in Veeam ONE Monitor every: 10sec - every 60sec
∙ Loading data after choosing an object in the Tree in: 0.5sec - 1.5sec

∙ Timeout for collecting data about VM snapshot files from datastores: 15min - 1hour
∙ Timeout for collecting data from servers by Veeam ONE Reporter: 6hours - 12 hours

Nikita, we need to create a KB to document this.

Vitaliy, agreed.
All the more the provided list doesn`t contain the difference for Hyper-V infrastructure.
Once the KB is done, its number will be posted here.
