Can I use veeam to convert Thick to Thin provision ?

I just tried downloading Veeam Backup-Replication Free edition to test in my lab.
The backup-restore process still in testing process. (found that restoration is more fast than backing up)

After test I have a question as this subbject.
I have many VMs on my vmware vsphere ESXi 5.1 Host some of them using disk format as Thick.
If I backup Thick Vm with Veeam to be a .vdk format and then restore to same host.
Can I change disk type to "Thin" during restoration ? Can I ?
If not, any suggest ?

I just tried restoration. it had a button named "DIsk type" to switch Thick or Thin or Same. so , I tested change from Thick to Thin.
Wait and see.
How about the effect ? it may take more time to convert to Thin ?

The actual tests are likely to give the final answer here. Though, disk type conversion is more or less one time operation that won't be performed on regular basis. So, the increased restoration time shouldn't bother you regularly.
