Hello,
I have opened a case : 07512419
I try to restore a SQL database (full recovery model). The SQL server is showing correctly in Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server with its db's. I select the db and click on "Restore Database", in the menu i select "Restore state of .... to sql server"
It takes a couple of minutes and i get this error : "Some database files already exist on the target server."
Of course database files already exist, i want to restore the database and Veeam needs to take care of the action to overwrite the database correctly.
For information the database is part of an availability group (sql always-on).
Support ask me to try to publish the database or try to restore to another location and select the same sql server. Publishing need action from the SQL part, which i do not want. Restore to another location to finally restore in the same location seems not intuitive at all.
For sure, i could just remove myself the database from the availability group, drop the secondary database, drop the primary database and restore but i would rather Veeam to automatically take care of the whole process.
Thank you for your expertise.
Christophe

Re: Cannot restore SQL database (file already present on target)
Usually what happens is that we ask for overwrite. But if the user that you have choosen has not the delete rights or need some elevation then it fails. Can you check the file rights and compare with the user that you connect the SQL from in the Veeam Explorer.

Re: Cannot restore SQL database (file already present on target)
Hi Christophe,
Indeed, the behavior does not appear to be as expected, we should be able to overwrite the existing files. Let me clarify the possible scenarios with my colleagues from the QA team. Do I understand correctly that you are using the point-in-time state restore wizard? Do you see the same behavior if you go through this wizard and select the original one as a target?
Thanks!

Hi,
I use latest state wizard : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
I will try with the wizard (restoring to another server) selecting the original one and will let you know.
