hereby, I request as a feature the development of backing up PostgreSQL + log files on a Windows Server.
Pre and post-freeze scripts are possible, but complicatet and not optimal.
Since it has already been implemented on Linux, only minor adjustments should be needed for Windows...?
I hope the community feels the same and also needs this feature.
hopefully greetings,
Manuel
At first sight, it seems that only "minor" adjustments are needed but I bet that if we start to analyze this logic deeper, we will be very surprised to know how many new things and low-level components are required On the other hand, I agree that we already have high-level architecture design and it's much easier to reuse it than to invent something new. However, I believe that the testing of this feature will consume most of the engineering resources: all cases and scenarios that were tested for Linux must be repeated for Windows.
Anyway, your request is noted. Certainly, this idea has value but I cannot comment on ETA and timelines.
