Hi All,
We are trying to use the Veeam Microsoft SQL plug in to backup a Microsoft SQL Availability group cluster database.
The backups appears to go through, but when we use the restore wizard we can only see the non synchronised backups.
Is it possible to restore Microsoft SQL Availability group synchronised SQL Database backed up using the Veeam Microsoft SQL Plug-in? How do we do this?
Kind regards
Andrew Rycroft

In the restore wizard, there is a drop down to switch between databases backed up from local SQL and from Availability Groups.
Can you please check if it is just a matter of selecting the right instance?

Thank you for your response,
We cannot seem to find this drop down. Is it possible you can provide a reference to the documentation?
Kind regards

Hi,
Just another point in the Restore explorer we do not see the Veeam Availability Group backups made with the Veeam SQL plug-in, but we do see the backups made with the Veeam Windows Agent with application aware functionality.
Kind regards
Andrew Rycroft

Re: Is it possible to Backup a Microsoft SQL Availability group database using the plug-in?
At SQL Servername, you need to drop down and select the AG.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Veeam Explorer for SQL integration with plug-ins follows soon (plan is v13 or v13.0.1), for now this means restore from plug-in needs to be done on the SQL system with the plug-in restore wizard. SQL restore from image backup needs to be done by Veeam Explorer for SQL.
Important point if you do plug-in and Agent/VM backups at the same time. Ensure, that the Agents/VM backups guest processing for SQL are set to "Copy only". Otherwise when you do SQL plug-in backups and Agents/VM backups at the same time non of them have a valid chain for point in time restore.
