Hi, we are looking forward to Backup our physical Oracle Clusters with Veeam.
As OS we use AIX, Solaris, RedHat (with Oracle Linux, CentOS) and Windows.
We have active/passive Clusters. The Volumes could switch between the nodes. But only one of them can write/read at the same time. Oracle Home is based locally at any Node and not shared.
The Clusters are Veritas InfoScale Cluster with Veritas Filesystem VXFS or Windows Cluster Shared Volumes.
In the Failover Cluster Support KB there is an information "Backup of Cluster Shared Volumes ist not supported".
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Then the scheduling. It would be good if we could schedule the Jobs from the Backup Server and not via CronJob or other scripts from DB Node mentioned in Plugin for Oracle RMAN Overview.
For example. How is it working with NetBackup.
We have two Nodes, every Node needs an own Client. After that we set the virtuelle IP/Hostname from the Database via Hostmapping. So if we contact the virtuell Hostname from Backup Server, NetBackup knows where it is running. The backup script is stored locally on both nodes.
The Features GFS with Oracle is also important. But I saw the Feature is already reguested.
Thanks!

Re: [Feature Request] Oracle Cluster Backup
Hi Steffen and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!
We offer support for both standard Oracle RAC and Oracle standalone deployments through our RMAN backup policy. Therefore, the question regarding InfoScale and VXFS clusters is indeed a valuable feature request for our plug-in central management functionality.
GFS retention is consistently one of the most popular requests for application plug-ins. If you're interested, I suggest taking a look at this topic, which provides a workaround in standalone mode and can give you a better idea of how to address this issue.
Thanks!
