Oracle pluggable database restores

Post by Saskatoon Kevin »

I'm currently using v10; does v11 support individual pluggable database restores? With v10 I can recover the entire container, but I'm curious if v11 will permit individual databases within that container to be restored.

Hi Kevin,

No, restore of individual pluggable databases in Veeam Explorer for Oracle is not available in v11 and I doubt it will be delivered in near future but we keep all of these requests on our radar. Did you try to protect your Oracle database using Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN ? Basically, you can restore individual pluggable databases using RMAN.

Thanks!

I figured that would be the case, and I have suggested that the plugin for RMAN would *likely* be an option. I did think it was best to check if I was just missing something on the B&R side though.
Thanks for the update!

Hi, I'm already using V12 and there is still no option to restore a pluggable database.

I have Oracle RMAN Plugin Jobs managed by Veeam, a CDB Container with many PDB's and I do not have the option to restore a single PBD.

I have already registered two cases with support, looking for a solution or prediction of when this resource will be available, but I have not been successful.

Any feedback from the development team? It's a very important feature, Oracle RMAN itself already does this on its own, why not integrate this feature with Veeam.

The cases I registered with support, if it helps with anything

Case 07161998

Case 06409236

Hi Jose and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!

This feature is important without a doubt and it is already added to our road map but I'm not ready to share any timelines. As a workaround, you may use native RMAN restore commands right on the Oracle server or, if you have image-level backups, you can try Publish feature and run RMAN backups of PDBs from the published database and restore them.

Thanks!
