Periodically Transaction Logs without Admin$

Hi,

we use the persistent agent, because admin$ is disabled via GPO. But apparently it was still needed for the transaction logs backup every 15 minutes. I think thats as described here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120 it Installs / removes the Log shipper component at the start of the Parent Job.

I think i've seen a "VeeamLogBackupService_x64" under packages. Is that the Component? Can i install it manuall on those servers and will it stay permanently then or would it still get removed at the end of the next cycle?

Thanks for your reply Andreas, i should have mentioned that we are using managed agent for a cluster, thats why there is no option to use permanent components in application aware processing.
Hence im asking if i can achieve the same thing by just manually installing "VeeamLogBackupService_x64" ?

Hello,

The Admin$ share and the log backup service are not required for T-log backups if you're using the Server computer type. Everything will work out of the box.

--- UPD 15/07/2024 --- For the Failover Cluster type please do the following:
1. Disable jobs
2. Install the persistent log shipping service on each cluster node. The service .msi default path is Veeam B&R installation folder is: "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Packages\VeeamLogBackupService_x64.msi"
Or from the installation iso: "Packages\VeeamLogBackupService_x64.msi"

So what i initially asked just works fine? thanks for clarifying!
Because i wasn't sure if it works for all components like that.

Hi Ahmet,

Glad to hear that it's helpful! This instruction applies only to the Failover Cluster type. If you're using the Server computer type, everything must work out of the box without additional manual installation of any components.
