Hi There,
Can the Veeam agent be used to back up only the PostgreSQL database without the need to configure any OS file system?
When using the application-aware option, is it possible to set the retention period of the PostgreSQL database backup separately from the retention period of the VM backup job?
For example:
I would like the VM backup to have a 30-day retention period, and the PostgreSQL database to have only a 7-day retention period.
Thanks

Re: Postgresql backup only
Hi Evandro,
It is not possible, we create an image-level backup of the server in which PostgreSQL data is in a consistent state, thanks to application-aware image processing being enabled. Retention works for image-level backups, and you can have separate retention for WAL log backups, however, it ultimately depends on the image-level retention as well. As a workaround, you may use native PostgreSQL tools like pg_dump to back up databases to a local disk, and afterward, create an image-level backup to fetch the entire data set.
Thanks!
