Hello dear Veeam Team,
could you please make it possible that the SAP HANA Plugin can directly write/backup to object storage in the cloud (AWS, Azure..).
We have SAP workloads in the Azure/AWS and need to use immutability therefore at the moment we need to deploy the hardened repo in the clouds
which is very costly to operate and also to backup.
I asked the support via ticket this question, and they could not tell me if this is on the roadmap yet or not.
This is our top most awaited crucial function/feature.

Re: [Feature Request] SAP-HANA Plugin backup to object storage
Hello Udo
Direct backup to object storage is one of our top requests for plugin backups.
But there is no ETA we can share today. Your vote is counted +1.
The only workaround today for object storage is to leverage a SOBR with capacity tier.
Best,
Fabian

Re: [Feature Request] SAP-HANA Plugin backup to object storage
Hello Fabian,
for SOBR with capacity tier still VBR server needs to be "included/involved", am I correct?
As it is the case with the Veeam Hardened Repo.
So at the moment there is no solution which would work without VBR...?
Great that at least it is the top request - any Idea when this feature may be introduced?
Best Regards
Udo

Re: [Feature Request] SAP-HANA Plugin backup to object storage
Hi Udo,
Yes, I can confirm that this is one of the most important requests for application plug-ins but I'm not ready to share ETA. Anyway, application plug-ins cannot work and will not work without Veeam B&R: a plug-in provides an interface to stream application data to Veeam infrastructure that is managed by a backup server.
Speaking about object storage, backup traffic will go over the gateway server which would be:
1. VBR server itself
2. Any machine that has network connectivity with the DB server (it's better to keep it in the same network in which the DB server resides) and which is added to VBR infrastructure
3. DB server itself (as long as it's added to VBR infrastructure) but it will create additional CPU load on the DB server
I'd be glad to get your comments on the options above.
Thanks!
