Hi all,
for a client VMware production environment, we are planning a site migration.
There are 2 SQL server VMs with a WSFC and RDM physical disks for clustered quorum and data.
We configured entire servers backup direct to a s3 bucket with VAW version 6 (VBR 12).
The goal is to use a Veeam 13 from the second site to restore the SQL cluster.
We have already tried this procedure:
1- Instant recovery VMs (only OS disk)
2- Attach two empty RDM disks with virtual compatibility to a "management VM", previously added to a protection group on Veeam 13
2- Restore quorum and data volumes to the "management VM" using volume mapping
3- Detach RDM disks from "management VM"
4- Attach RDM disks to SQL server VMs
5- Power on SQL server VMs
Unfortunately we got some Windows errors on that clustered disks, the WSFC is not able to put them online.
Are these steps supported by Veeam? Or the we have to use another procedure?
Thanks
Marco S.

Re: SQL Cluster restore-migration scenario
Hi Marco,
We have never explicitly tested this scenario, but as far as I can see, the only step in the workflow related to our software is Instant Recovery, which works fine. Could you please create a support case and share the case ID with us? First, we need to understand the cause of the Windows errors you encountered. It may also be necessary to open a case with Microsoft Support, but I believe our engineers will be able to define the best troubleshooting plan.
Thanks!
