Hi Everyone,
I have a backup job that uses VMware tags to include VMs in the backup job. I created a new tag for the SQL server and created a backup job, which worked completely fine by picking up the tagged servers. When I enabled application-aware, I saw the SQL backup and the transaction log backup happening successfully except for one VM.
On the transactional backup job, I'm seeing this message "Skipping database on the excluded virtual disk" but no disk exclusion or DB exclusions configured in the backup job. The other two VMs picked up by the same job are running perfectly fine.
Below is my infra setup, any reason why the disk getting auto-excluded on that particular server?
SQL setup:
MSSQL 2022 STD, individual disks for MDF, LDF, and Temp DBs
VMware:
ESXI: 8
SCSI Controllers: VMware Paravirtual
VM:
Windows Server 2022
I have an open case with support, still in the Log review phase (07112603).
Thank you,
Ash

Re: Veeam B&R Auto Exculdes SQL Server disk
Hi Ashwath and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!
Does this VM have a physical RDM, independent disk or a disk connected via in-guest iSCSI initiator? Those disks are excluded automatically from processing. If my assumption is correct, you should use agent-based backup to protect this VM.
Thanks!
