"Business View subfolder functionality (especially for categorization based on a "VM Folder" parameter)" 07132442

Post by makacmar »

Hello,
we separate customers based on folder.
Customer could create folders and put VMs inside.

We are looking for business view for particular folder with subfolders

due to the logic of Business View categorization: there are categories > groups within categories (folders) > objects within these groups. There are no child groups (subfolders) within the groups by design.

thank you

Hello Marcel,

You are right, subfolders are not available but could you please clarify your use case for our better understanding?
For example, you could create a category "folder path contains <customer_rootfoldername>" and this would create a group of all VMs inside

Thanks

Hello Roman,
we have main folder and under it tenants folder
inside of tenant folder, could tenant create thousands of folders
so we need create reports from tenant folder including all customer VMs
i have used VM folder path group, but no VMs appeared
i cannot past picture, so condition is: VM Folder path | contains | workload/t004

Hello Marcel,

To be honest, I didn't get the difference, it works the same way with the nesting of folders:

You need to use contains a folder name, not a workload name:
VM Folder path | contains | workload/t004
Also please be advised, that Business View categorisation happening during the data collection task. You may force it by following these steps.

If it still doesn't work, please open the case and provide case ID in this thread.

Thanks.
