Questions regarding Business View Database

Post by c.castellow »

We recently acquired the nWorks MP for VMware, and had hoped to take a look at Business View as well. Can anyone provide information about the size of the Business View database? We have dedicated SQL servers that will be hosting the data. We have four ESX hosts, one VirtualCenter instance, and approximately 80 VMs.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, it is extremely small - I would not expect it to be more than a few MB in your case. Thank you.

Thanks for the very quick response. Can you tell me what info is contained in the Business View DB? Is it storing duplicate data from the VirtualCenter DB (particularly the performance data)? What about data from the nWorks SCOM MP?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, no there is no performance data. Just internal Business View configuration settings (categories, groups, rules); as well as actual VM-to-group mapping. Business View is standalone add-on which works with our other products, and it does not have any dependencies on the nworks MP specifically.
