I was wondering, is backing up Data from 1 NAS and restoring it to another, supported?
I ask because, I am backing up data from a share on the Hitachi NAS (SNU400 - which Veeam does not have a plugin for at least for my model of HNAS) which I added to veeam as an "Unstructured Resource" and restoring the share data to a NetApp which I added to Veeam as a Filer however it always throws an error that it cannot restore the security attributes (the attributes I need are linux rwxr-wr-w and owner:group) so what it does it restore the files but sets the security attributes as (rwxrwxrwx and root:root).
I haven't contacted Veeam support yet because I wanted to do everything I knew to try and fix the issue and have exhausted everything I can think of, so I am posting here on my off time so that hopefully I have answers or suggestions by Monday when I return to work.
Thanks for reading and your help and if anyone has questions for me, feel free to ask and I can answer with whatever I can remember but what I cannot remember I will answer on Monday when I have access to the systems again.

Re: Backing up from HNAS and Restoring to NetApp
Hello Neo
Yes, it's supported but it may be possible that not the same permissions set is restored. Especially when restoring between different type of file server. What protocol does the NetApp use? NFS or SMB?
Best,
Fabian
