Backup open files on Azurefile share

Post by olivier.chaillot »

Hi,

I need to back up files from an azurefile share.
I declared the share on my VEEAM server as an SMB share (NAS).
The backup job is successful but the files are "unable to backup"

I need to be able to use the option "Backup from a vss microsoft Snapshot" in order to back up the files in use.

I can't find any articles on backing up files located on an azurefile share.
Could you help me ?

Hi Olivier,

I would recommend to raise a support request and to let our support engineers to examine debug logs and reveal the root cause. Please don't forget to provide us with the support case ID.

Thanks!

I finally added the account as Owner of the share and I no longer have the error. But the backup remains blocked on "resource not ready: snapshot" (I manually launched a snapshot of the share on Azure)

I can't find any Veeam article on Azure side prerequisites for backing up an azurefile share
Has this scenario been validated by Veeam?
:(

Hi Olivier,

I believe that the physical location of the file share is transparent for NAS backup job, even if it's deployed in Azure.
The only requirement is to provide an access to the share from Veeam over SMB: looks like this one is met already because you've managed to add the file share to the inventory.

Let's wait for a conclusion of our support engineers, I'm pretty sure that the error above has no specific related to the location of the file share.

Thanks!
