BnR Community Edition 10 file share
I am using BnR Community Edition 10
I plan to make a backup of the shared folder located on the synology NAS.
I get an error - 19.04.2020 21:47:20 :: Processing \\art\Department Error: Unable to process workload: license has been exceeded
at the same time I have 3 more free licenses out of 10

Hi Dmitriy,
What's the size of the data you are backing up? A single VUL license covers 250GB of data on a NAS share.
Thanks

The best way will still be using our NAS backup functionality. There is a handy pricing calculator that may help you to choose an appropriate pricing model for your landscape.
Alternatively, you may stick with image-level backup functionality provided by Veeam Agents.

Dmitriy,
You can just limit the amount of data protected by the nas job (simply exclude several subfolders from the job or select only needed folders in the backup job): if you have three licenses left - that would be 750GB of nas backup.

If I exclude files by mask, when counting licenses, these files are taken into account when counting the number of licenses?

Re: BnR Community Edition 10 file share
Correct. Only files that have been actually backed up are taken into account when calculating license consumption. Keep in mind that if you backed up the whole file share, then changed the file share job exclusion settings to exclude a piece of the file share the licenses consumed by the objects during the initial run against the whole file share which were later excluded will be freed only after 30 days.
Thanks

Re: BnR Community Edition 10 file share
Do not understand why, but ~1,4 TB share, where only document files (27 GB) included consume 4 licenses.

Hi Titanrain,
Looks unexpected. Any chance you backed up the whole file share at first or there are other file share backup jobs? If not, could you please raise a support case, share your support case ID with us, and provide all the information to our support engineers for analysis?
Thanks in advance!
