Direct to Object Storage

Post by tmjidaho »

I'm putting this topic to the Veeam forums in search of general advice and/or experience with Veeam Backup Direct to Object Storage.

"Knowing that Direct to Object Storage" requires Full backups as opposed to Synthetic Backup, what was the overall effect on your backup job creation, scheduling, VM count and/or Processed Data?

Did you see negative impact to your backup window due to Monthly Full? Did you create jobs that rotate the Full creation on alternating days? Etc.

Am curious as to how those of you in this situation adapted, or did you even have to adapt?

Actually, this is not correct. Direct to Object Storage uses synthetic full backups. Real full backups aka Active Fulls in Veeam terms are also supported and can be enabled if desired, but they are certainly not required and are disabled by default.
