Immutable or Hardening from NFS Nutanix Files
Hi Team,
Currently I'm struggling for a project with a very short timeline, how to harden backup files on NFS share Nutanix Files, because immutable in Veeam only supports block storage and that means it can't be applied on NFS share Nutanix Files. Maybe there is another way to do hardening on the Nutanix Files side itself? has anyone tried it?
Thanks for your kind of support.
Best regards,
Ryan

Just to clarify, you want to use NFS share Nutanix files as your backup target and achieve immutability? This is not a supported option.

Hi Haslund,
Thanks for your answer.
I have read guidance from Veeam and several references related to Veeam.
I'm wondering if there is another way to harden the Nutanix side.
Has anyone ever tried? I'm just curious about this, because this is also a challenge from my customers.
Thank for your kind of support.
Best regards,
Ryan

Hi,
You can achieve this by using Nutanix Object, but you'll need specific license if you only have Nutanix Files licenses, or you can convert-it to NUS Pro and Object will be included into your TiB licenses. (Check as you may have some free Tier... I believe 2 TB by clusters).
For Object, you'll need to enable it from Prism Central he will Deploy the VMs for your S3 infrastructure on the cluster you choose (Like Files...).
Just be careful to not have production data and backup data hosted on the same cluster...

Hi Flow90,
Thanks for your answer.
I'm still curious about converting to NUS Pro. It can be free if we only have Nutanix Files license?
Best regards,
Ryan
