Hi. We currently have NetApp with SnapVault for backups, plus we have Veeam for VMs. Considering Veeam for NetApp/NAS. However it would appear to me that the initial benefit of restoring a SnapVault volume to a primary NetApp is that it's block based and therefore fast. With Veeam, would it not be file level backup, and would it therefore not take much longer to restore millions of files?

Yes a storage snapshot will yield a quicker recovery. We heartily endorse leveraging storage snapshots for the most granular RPO possible but do not consider snapshots to be functionally equivalent to backups for many reasons. This has been extensively debated in these forums for years BTW
. That said with newer versions of VBR we do support instant recovery options for NAS backups (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120) to reduce recovery to near zero.
