Netapp volume wildcard

Post by Kitkat »

Hi,
I have a NAS that has both CIFS and SMB data, and so I need both protocols enabled in the Netapp integration wizard.
However, let’s say we have a volume with 2 shares containing the same data:
Server1\home – SMB
Server1/home – NFS
Is it possible to use a wildcard to exclude SMB? I added *\home* but that did not work. my problem is that both shares are being backed up.

Just to clarify, I cannot simply uncheck SMB from the selection because there are other volumes using SMB.
Thanks.

From https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120. Simply add the share name to the exclusion list -
To exclude folder 2016 (for example) from processing, you can enter the full path to it in the Exclude masks field and click Add. For example, for an NFS file share this path looks like: QA04:/NFS04/Documents/2016, for an SMB file share — \\fileserv05\Documents\2016).

uhm, so I wont be able to backup as the NAS at SVM level. I will need to create NFS shares and SMB shares and back up what I want - that way?

Unfortunately yes this is the behavior I saw in my lab when trying to enforce exclusions like this on ONTAP SVM-level NAS backups. Perhaps someone else knows some way to accomplish this...
