Object Storage - Expiriences with private Cloud

Post by HansMeiser »

Hello,

we are interested in using Object Storage for some of our file Shares. Before registering a service on professional cloud provider we want to do some tests with a local cloud just to check out how it works.
There is some free software to run a self hosted cloud. does anybody have some experience in this issue? I would be glad to get some recommendations for software and hints to use it.

Thank you,
Hans

I think near any of the options that are available that are "free" are OK. I would choose an option that comes on a virtualization image so that you do not have to bother with any base configuration. I think MinIO has some options there.

As well I would google for some guides how to set things up for Veeam with these object storage options and would choose the one that is convenient when it is only temporary.

Check this list for general options, from there you can check for free or trial versions.

OSNEXUS has a Virtual Storage Appliance that you can use to build a VM running their object storage.

I’ve tried it and it’s pretty easy to use.

Thanks
