Proxy Priority - General Purpose Backup Proxy Priority (File Backup Proxy)

Hi all,

I would like to know how to control the file backup proxy priority for source is SMB share.
I understand VMware Backup Proxy has Proxy Affinity, which can control priority.

But no document mentions about how to control priority for General Purpose Backup Proxy (File Backup).

Any ideas? Thank you for your time!

Actually I would like to know how to control General Purpose Backup Proxy Priority in both situations (one job and shares).

My environemnt now:
There are 2 Backup Repositories with 2 File proxies and using 1 same File Share source.
1st Repository is on 1st File proxy within same machine, 2nd repository is on another File Proxy with same machine.

I want to select both File proxies as Redunancy during creating File Share source.
Create several jobs and control proxy priority based on job, it is best to same machine's proxy to backup to repository.

Below are my experiences:
1) When I added a NAS as File Share source, I can select Backup Proxies, however there is no option to control priority.
2) When I created File Backup Job, no proxy option is available. I assume the proxies are used based on File Share source proxies.

My Questions:
1) Is it possible to control File Backup proxy usage based on job? If so, how to control priority?
2) If File Backup proxy can only select during creating File Share source, how to control priority like control Proxy Affinity for VMware Proxy?

1st Repository is on 1st File proxy within same machine, 2nd repository is on another File Proxy with same machine.

The backup job does not allow you to select multiple repositories as a primary destination, so having proxies roles assigned to different repo machines does not help here.

There is no priority indeed. The most suitable proxy is selected automatically from the list of assigned proxies. You can potentially to limit the amount I/O during backup operations and that would limit the amount of proxies used during backup.

Correct.

Unfortunately there is no way to control it today. NAS backup job will allocated resources assigned to the source automatically.

Mind me asking - do you want to keep one proxy for redundancy but never use it during backup activity?

Yes since I got 1 physical Windows proxy, 1 physcial Linux proxy, 1 VM Windows proxy.
For performance, I prefer to use only the Physical Windows proxy for file backup, VM Windows proxy only used if physical down.

Because I am afraid the Backup Job will use the VM proxy instead of Physical one, this could reduce performance
