REFS slow backup

Post by avaleksandrov »

Hey!

We have VBR 11.0.1.1261 P20220302 installed on a virtual machine.
Windows Server 2022 21H2
CPU

Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6254 CPU @ 3.10GHz

Base speed: 3.10 GHz
Sockets: 32
Virtual processors: 32
Virtual Machine: Yes

Memory

64.0GB

Slots used: N/A
Hardware reserved: 0.5 MB

Available 53.1 GB
Cached 15.9 GB
Committed 12.5/73.5 GB
Paged pool 394 MB
Non-paged pool 347 MB
In use (Compressed) 10.7 GB (0 MB)

There is also a physical REFS server.

Windows Server 2022 21H2

CPU

Intel(R) Xeon(R) Bronze 3204 CPU @ 1.90GHz

Base speed: 1.90 GHz
Sockets: 2
Cores: 12
Logical processors: 12

Memory

192GB

Speed: 2133MHz
Slots used: 12 of 24
Form factor: DIMM
Hardware reserved: 1.3 GB

Throughput network capacity of 10GB/s.

But at the same time, the average backup speed is about 263 mb / s.

Jobs are executed via transport mode HotAdd

Target bottleneck

What could be the matter and how to increase the backup speed?

What about the array configuration of the ReFS volume?
How many disks do you have and what type of disks?
Which RAID controller do you use?
Do you have historical performance metrics out of your monitoring?
