Hi,
Is there a sizer for the backup in file mode? Or should you use the classic sizer? And if it is the classic, are there any recommendations on the parameters?

Re: Sizing backup file
Hello,
if you have the amount of source data, reduction rate, change rate and retention, any calculator / spreadsheet can do it. I know that there are sizing tools on external blogs, but the ones I saw were over-complicated and sometimes even wrong.
NAS backup is incremental forever. There is no (synthetic) full. Technically you can use https://rps.dewin.me/ in forever incremental mode. I just take Excel since NAS backup exists, because the formula is easy.
Best regards,
Hannes

Code: Select all
source size -> data reduction -> full on disk
changed data size per day -> data reduction -> increment on disk -> multiply with the retention
