VBR limit read speeds during backups
Hi!
I have a job using volume level backup. The source is an iSCSI drive with limited bandwidth.
When job fails, if I retry in production hours, the bandwidth used by VBR makes network users having real low on accessing that shared drive. During the bakcup, the iSCSI drive usage makes network bandwidth go to constant 100Mbps, which seems to be the max for that iSCSI drive, because although the server has more bandwidth, the traffic from users to that specific drive is totally occupied and makes opening or saving files almost impossible.
If I stop the job, everything returns to normal.
I tried using network traffic rules and setup a limit between the server and the destination shared drive, but it doesn't work, maybe because VBR gets data at max speed and then transfers to the backup drive on the limited speed?
Is there a way to limit VBR read speed?
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Hello Paulo,
Is that a VM backup, agent-based backup of file-level (a.k.a. NAS backup) job? Thank you!

Re: VBR limit read speeds during backups
Thank you! Can you lower the Backup I/O control value, as it defines how fast all proxies can read data from the source file share / disk. Here is a link to help center: Step 4. Specify File Share Processing Settings

Re: VBR limit read speeds during backups
This subforum is for file share backup functionality aka NAS backup. "Volume-level backup" is not possible for this functionality. You should confirm which functionality you're using and post your question in the correct subforum.
