Scale Computing Support?
Is there any plans to support Scale Computing the way VMware and Hyper-v are?

I think now is a good time to think about it.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Agreed.
We've been rolling out more Scale clusters for customers and fewer Nutanix clusters and it'd be nice to have native support and for Scale support to stop telling us to buy other backup solutions.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Hello Veeam Team (Anton Gostev in that post) - since there is a blog post about Veeam thinking about integration for Proxmox and/or XCP-NG - is Scale also taken into consideration?
We are reviewing Proxmox as well as Scale for future solution. thank you

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Hello, yes we're monitoring the adoption of all hypervisors with a significant market share. Thanks to agent-based backup, already today Veeam users can protect VMs running on any hypervisor at all. So we will monitor where our customers go and will follow the majority to also enable host-based backup for leading hypervisors. Thanks

[MERGED] Feature Request: Scale Hypercore hypervisor
Scale Hypercore hypervisor is running as a hyperconverged KVM cluster on dedicated Lenovo hardware: https://www.scalecomputing.com/sc-hypercore
We were told by Scale representatives that they already are in negotations with veeam, but need customers to push.
The company I work for (this is a private account) was long time veeam customer but we changed to Scale after a ransomware attack.
The scale cluster runs extremely smooth and has industry leading support. Even if VMWare get sane again, I would not change back.
Sadly, it works natively only with one backup vendor, which has the worst support and product quality I ever experienced. We would gladly come back to veeam and even are willing to use agent backups (we are testing that right now) if veeam will natively support Scale HC3 in a foreseeable future.
Since it's KVM based and uses an appliance-based backup, we Scale customers hope it should be easy to integrate after Proxmox.
The biggest problem with Scale HC3 is, that most use cases have no real admins (since it's so easy to administrate the cluster), so there will be no big push here. But Scale is aware of the massive problems with the backup vendor they partner now (they monitored several of our tickets) and would love to have veeam as integrated solution. On their Vegas show some weeks ago it was THE reason why people would not immediately change to Scale HC3: they want veeam as backup provider.
Let's make this happen. Since veeam support also has industry leading quality, a partnership with Scale would give KMUs the most perfect turnkey solution.
If anyone from veeam needs any information about the company I work for now as a Senior Systems Engineer, how we use Scale HC3 or the difference to ESXi (I was handling ESXi clusters and veeam before for 10 years in different companies) I would be very glad to talk to you.
We also would offer to work together with veeam as a beta-tester.
Best wishes
Joachim

[MERGED] Re: Feature Request: Scale Hypercore hypervisor
Hi Joachim
Thank you for the request.
Unfortunately Scale HC3 is not yet on our roadmap.
Let's see if this hypervisor gets a meaningful market share for us to consider investing into full integration.
Meanwhile you can use agent-based backups for VMs running on Scale.
Best,
Fabian

We are currently in the process of expanding scale computing for ourselves and our customers and would also like to use Veeam here.
Is there already a timeline for when Scale will be supported by Veeam?
Kind regards,
P.Walther

Hi Pascal
There is no update to our roadmap since Gostev last comment.
We will continue to monitor the market before we can make decisions to support new hypervisors.
Best,
Fabian

Hi Jonathon
Thank you for your +1. Your request is noted.
We will start evaluating next Hypervisors after the release of our Proxmox integration.
Best,

[MERGED] Request for other supported Hypervisors - Scale Computing and Virtuozzo
With the VMware by Broadcom cost hikes, we are looking at other hypervisors to move our cloud and clients to. We found a couple decent ones, but they lack support for Veeam outside of agent-based backups.
So, I am requesting support for Scale Computing and Virtuozzo as hypervisor-based backups.
Thanks!

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Good news
We were called several times by veeam sales why we don't came back and always pointed out to the missing integration.
We would love to be veeam customers again. Let's hope for the best.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Another bump for full integration with Scales hypervisor. As I support multiple clients along with our own internal infrastructure, It is important for me to find a product with low administrative overhead. While we will have some clients stay with Vmware, we are assisting others with moving to Scale HCI along with us. If I have to manage several hundred to a thousand endpoints individually, I fear we will be looking elsewhere for our data protection needs. Also, Veeam needs to vastly improve the remote update/upgrade process of agents and backup and recovery servers, especially if I do have to manage many endpoints. It seems like every time there is a new Veeam B&R release it needs another 20GB of free space and it is getting out of hand.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Just deployed ScaleComputing at one of our casinos. Really quite remarkable for the cost. A full hyperconverged platform and no annual maintenance? I went from 4TB to 11TB and spend less in 5 years!
Only thing missing is Veeam native support. Please count us as +3 since there will be 3 casino resorts running it within 12 months.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
+1 from us as well, we are moving all customers off VMware to Proxmox and Scale Computing and would love Veeam. Today they only have Acronis (bleh), and need an enterprise solution like Veeam.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
I would also like to jump on this thread to implore the Veeam team to strongly consider adding the Scale Computing platform to the development roadmap sooner rather than later. We are working to migrate to Scale as well as upgrade our backup solution to Veeam and it is pretty horrible that we have to install agents on each of our systems because of the lack of support that Veeam has for Scale.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
+1 from here as well. Replacing multiple VMware clusters with Scale HCI solutions in FY25.
Veeam if you're listening, you have several existing and perspective clients that are looking to ditch the now overpriced VMware and are considering or already moving to Scale. You all should get ahead of this while you still can as it will help you retain happy customers as well as bring in some new customers.

Re: Scale Computing Support?
Yes, please lets get the +1's flowing for Scale computing support with Veeam. Agent backups is not the wtg.
We have been evaluating V-alternatives for our 3 sites for the past 18 mo and Scale is the closest to top of our selection shortlist from a cost/straightforward solution perspective. However, only their available backup options are giving me pause, so I'm unlikely to pull the trigger until I have Veeam support. However, I can't wait forever, either.
Veeam is already supporting what I consider SMB virtualisation products for backup but not a solution that appears to be far more robust consideration for medium enterprise use like Scale?
Please can Veeam product owners get support for Scale Computing backups onto your development timeline ASAP.
Given its based on KVM and Veeam already supports this in other products there might be a fair bit of code overlap to ease the effort.
I dont want to have to ever use Acr%#$@. Thanks

Re: Scale Computing Support?
I talked to Scale Computing this week and they are claiming Veeam support is coming so can anyone at Veeam confirm or deny this? Has this been road mapped and if so what is the tentative time frame? Is this a 2025 feature or 2026? As I can see on here this plays huge in to finding the correct alternative to VMware. Please if someone can give clarity.
Thanks in advance

+1 here. Planned migration from VMWare to Scale in the next two months. We will try the agent method, but would highly prefer a hypervisor based solution.
