Proxmox: Application Aware Processing

Post by ryan.christensen »

I know this is MVP 1.0 Proxmox support. I was surprised to see not even a mention that Application Aware Processing isn't available in the known issues section. Without that or custom script support there's no way to get a quiesed backup of running VMs, correct? I suppose maybe I could rig something up in powershell by triggering the VSS snaps from the Veeam server then telling Veeam to run the Proxmox backup job then cleaning up the VSS snaps.

Hi, Ryan. Application-aware processing is already available with agent-based backups, so there was no pressure to make this functionality a part of V1 (and if we were to, we would need much longer than 6 months to ship V1). Please use agent-based backup for your sensitive application servers until our app-aware processing engine is integrated with host-level Proxmox backups. Thanks

Hi Gostev,

It's been almost 6 months.. :)

Do you know if the Proxmox VE plug-in for VBR has application aware processing yet? I planned on using the agents as you've stated do support this, but it would be great if I could back them up through the hypervisor. I have some VMs running postgresql, etc.

Thanks!

Hi, Ryan. It is not available in the current version yet, however we did start working on this functionality for the next release. Thanks
