I have several critical servers running Oracle Linux 7 and 8 on oVirt. I noticed these limitations:
1. “You cannot backup a VM that has direct LUN disks attached”
2. "Veeam does not support VM guest OS file indexing for the oVirt plugin"
All of my VMs have direct LUNs attached.
Are there any workarounds to get full image backups of these?

Re: Backups of Linux VMs with Direct LUNs Attached
Hi,
Yes, you can deploy and use Veeam Agent for Linux on your VMs to workaround both limitations.
VM image-level backup jobs through the hypervisor with "Direct LUN disks attached" are impossible with all hypervisors—the backup must be performed from within the guest in these scenarios.
As for "VM guest OS file indexing," this is easier to implement and may become a feature in the future, but there is no ETA at this time.
Best,
Fabian
