Failed retention job - no warnings or errors

Post by squebel »

Hello,

While doing some troubleshooting with Support, we found some tenant backup jobs that had retention failures and therefor we are holding backups for way longer than we should. The engineer told me there is no alerting for these kind of failures. Is that true?

Hi Squebel

Yes, the support engineer is correct. I couldn't find a way to report on them.
But we have plans (no eta yet) to make "retention sessions" visible in the backup console.
Which would also allow to monitor these and eventually sent out notification mails.

Fabian, thank you for the response. That is really unfortunate and frustrating. Glad to hear at least there is some plans to add that in future versions. Are these failures being monitored by Veeam if we were to use Veeam Data Cloud for M365 backups?

Hi squebel

I apologize, i have missed to answer this topic.
For core VB365 features, VDC relies as well on alarms and messages provided by Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365. Therefore I don't believe it is monitored today within the VDC service.
I will move this topic to our VDC subforum, where one of my colleagues from the VDC team can comment if I'm wrong.

Best,
