Hello All. I hope everyone is well. We have an on-prem BDR server backing up on-prem servers. However, we also have an Azure VM running SQL server in Azure. We have an Veeam appliance in Azure and are managing everything from the on-prem VBR. It is backing up to Azure Blob as well as some snapshots in Azure.
We would like to achieve (2) things:
#1) Have another backup via a backup copy job either to another object provider (Wasabi) OR backup to our On-Prem Repo via a backup copy job. Latter option is preferred due to number 2 below:
#2) We would like to be able to run a surebackup job against that VM as well. How can this be achieved? Can sure backup jobs be run in Azure using the appliance?
Thanks for any advice.
Dave

Re: Azure VM - Replicate on-site - Surebackup
Hi,
1. Yes, backup copy jobs are supported to anywhere.
2. Can you clarify what exactly you would like to perform as test from surebackup perspective so we can better clarify if it will work or not?

Re: Azure VM - Replicate on-site - Surebackup
Thanks for your reply. We would like to be able to spin up an instance nightly of the VM that is currently backed up in Azure to make sure that it can be started in a DR event. Basically, what we do for on-Prem VM's using surebackup. Do we need to create a backup copy job from Azure to the On-Prem instance and run surebackup from the backup itself? Or can this be done leveraging the Veeam appliance in Azure in some way?
Thank you!
Dave

Hi Dave,
Currently, it is not possible to perform such a full test on backup copies but we do have this tracked as an enhancement for the future.
For backup copy jobs, u can make these in VBR and use the repository or Azure backup policy as a source. For more information, please see the user guide.
