Hi all,
We have to backup azure storage account.
I can create the backup job as shown in the doco -- https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
But my scenario is that we have Veeam cloud connect in our environment.
Our tape libraries are attached to this VCC environment and is extensively used to write backup copy of many of our on-prem client env (VMware), and then data is written to tape for LTR.
To assist a client with Azure VM and storage accounts backup, we have deployed a VBR server external to this VCC env.
Using this dedicated VBR env, I'm able to deploy Veeam backup for Azure appliance and backup Azure VMs.
This backup of Azure VMs is then sent to backup repository created in VCC env (using a gateway server) to create Backup copy job.
This can be written to tapes.
The problem is with backing up storage accounts, when at this stage -- https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
We cannot specify the repository from VCC.
Looks like it needs a local repository. If I backup on local repository (either S3 compatible or disk), how do I get this to VCC repository.
I need this to be in VCC repository for tape library and LTR.
How do I solve this? Any pointers?
Thanks,
-Sumeet.

Re: Backup Azure storage account
Currently, the object storage backup feature does not support the Cloud Connect repository, neither as a primary repository nor as a secondary repository. Thanks!

Re: Backup Azure storage account
Hi Veremin,
This is no good for our scenarios.
Are there any plans to support this in future?
We need to figure out how do we get this done.
Any suggestions or workaround that we can use?
Thanks,
-Sumeet.

Re: Backup Azure storage account
We indeed plan to support such scenarios, although we cannot specify in which particular version of the product it will be available.
You can leave your feedback in this thread, where your fellow service providers with similar requests have already commented.
As for a workaround, the immediate solution that comes to mind is to connect a tape library to the user's backup server and configure a NAS backup to tape job.
Thanks!

Re: Backup Azure storage account
Hi Veremin,
We decided to not use VCC. Instead move the backup repository from VCC to the VBR server used for this client.
VBR server was able to scan the existing repo (after providing the encryption password) and understand the existing restore points for the Azure VMs backup.
We will figure out a way to get this data written to the tapes. Mostly will have to move this VBR server VM to the cluster/host that has connectivity to the tape infrastructure.
Thanks.
