Hello,
Our organization has predominately Azure based VM's which backup using VBA. We also have a few Vmware VM's on-prem that backup via VBR 11 utilizing SOBR to S3 compatible storage.
What we wish to achieve is immutable backups to third party S3 compatible storage for our Azure based VM's. Is this possible?

Re: Backup data to s3 compatible storage from Azure
Hi Jason
That‘s currently not possible. But thanks for the request.
Today, you can use your VBR server to copy the Azure backups to your local SOBR and offload it to any supported capacity tier.
Thanks
Fabian

You should be able to integrate VBA with VBR and then copy the backups to s3 compatible storage. Have you integrated both solutions or are they running as standalone?
We are working on immutability support for Azure but I can’t provide an ETA yet. This way you will be able to enable it within VBA and benefit from Azure Blob immutability.

Re: Backup data to s3 compatible storage from Azure
Hi together,
+3 for this FRQ, we have actuelly two customers who wants to store the primary and/or secondary VBA Files in an external S3 Account - not in Azure.
A workaround with the local VBR (only by one customer available) is the customer to complex, the second customer have no OnPrem environment or an VBR-Server.
Thanks

Re: Backup data to s3 compatible storage from Azure
Hi Andreas,
Thank you for your request.
Since Veeam Backup for Azure v6, Veeam Backup & Replication is mandatory if you want to protect any newly introduced workload type.
With this requirement in mind, I personally expect the likelihood of implementing your request without a VBR to be rather low.
Maybe one option could be for you to provide "Veeam Backup for Azure" as a service, managing a dedicated appliance per customer from your "Service Provider" backup server. For customers who cannot run their own backup server.
Best,
Fabian
