Feature request: Keep backup/snapshot button

Post by ks.any.cloud »

Hi there

When looking at eg. a VM snapshot/backup, i see benefits of making it possible to select a backup, and then being able to push a button to save that choosen backup/snapshot for a longer while.
So a way to extend retention for a specific backup/snapshot.

Eg. you are close to the yearly backup, but want to save the "old" yealy for maybe 1-2 months more, so to avoid overwriting, and avoiding changing the job. You could with a press on a button, and have the data saved for a while longer.

Hi Kim,

Clear use case. We may consider adding a feature like this in the future however when it comes to a snapshot, would it make more sense for you to store a copy in object storage to save long-term costs? As snapshots are more expensive, I believe that would be a better idea.

Hi Niels

If the "button" could manage both(Keep the backup files, and move choosen snapshots to object storage) it would be awesome. :)
