Indexing Azure files as part of backup policy fails

Post by dcomovanguard »

Hi everyone!

My backups for Azure Files are working without issue, however as soon as I enable indexing, the jobs fail with the following error:

Indexing of `complianceshares` (snapshot ID: 2023-06-12T12:56:51.0000000Z) has failed: Worker VBA-a39ed919-2b34-48ff-8abc-43aea48f0620 (10.2.0.4): job completed with error. Error: mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg)

(Note: `complianceshares` is the name of the Azure fileshare and is not relevant to the error.)

I just upgraded to Veeam Backup for Azure 5a, and my versions are:
Server version: 5.1.0.63
Worker version: 5.1.0.63
FLR service version: 6.0.1.684

What step did I miss? What additional permission do I need to assign?

Thanks!
Drew

Hi Drew,

Please provide a support case ID as requested when you create a new topic about a technical issue. We cannot troubleshoot technical issues effectively over the forum posts.

In the meantime, please verify that the network settings for your worker instances are correctly configured and allow access to your storage accounts. For more information, see the User Guide.

Thank you!

Hi, this customer doesn't yet have a support agreement and using the community version as a PoC trial.

The mistake was all my fault... I found that when setting this up, I misclicked the vNet and didn't realize it until you provided the suggestion. I went back and looked and then smacked my head. It's now working perfectly and indexing is working as expected.

Thanks!
Drew
