We have deployed some Azure VMs without the Azure Linux VM agent (waagent) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure ... gent-linux or the Azure Windows VM agent https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure ... nt-windows
Before I start with the VBAZ deployment, I need to know, if this Azure VM agent is required that backups/restores with VBAZ will work or not. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find this documented anywhere.
thx,
sandsturm

Re: Is the Azure VM agent required for VBAZ?
Hello,
There is no need for any agent, before VBAZ deployment.

Re: Is the Azure VM agent required for VBAZ?
okay, thanks. Just one more question: How does Veeam communicate with the virtual machine to execute a snapshot for example, if the Azure VM agent is not available in these VMs. In my understanding, the Azure VM agent is the same as vmware tools in a vsphere virtual machine, or am I wrong?
thx,

Re: Is the Azure VM agent required for VBAZ?
Hello,
VBAZ uses native API's of MS Azure, which does not rely on agent.
Please refer also to the User Guide for more details: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbazu ... tml?ver=5a
