replica from VMware to Azure

Post by Luca82 »

Hi everyone, I have a question related to a VMware to Azure infrastructure:
Is it possible to replicate to Azure/AWS, or is it "only" backup and then restore from backup?

Hi,

This is not possible at the moment but you can use instant recovery or direct restore to any of these clouds.

Thank you, I'm reading up on this link
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbazu ... tml?ver=70

but I'm still confuse:
my customer wants to protect his on-prem vm to azure, now I just want to understand if is it possible to restore to azure in case of disaster of his on-prem dc selecting the restore point (most likely the last one). I assume he could use a web interface hosted on Azure (since the Veeam Server has gone down).
Is it all possible?

You can perform the restore from VBR but if his on-prem DC and VBR server would be gone then they would not be available.

It may be better to use backup copy jobs or store backups on SOBR with Object Storage archive/capacity tier to Azure so they are there in case of a disaster.

Ok, could it be a good architecture to put the VBR on Azure and manage the on-prem proxy from Azure? In case of on-prem DC would be gone I could restore and power on the virtual machine on Azure from the Azure repository
