Veeam Backup for Azure and IaC
Hi,
We are building an Azure Landing zone based on IaC (Terraform) and this also contains the deployment of Veeam Backup for Azure through the Azure marketplace images.
This has been working great for version 6 as this is still the version available in the marketplace. (https://az-vm-image.info/?cmd=--all+--p ... ackupazure)
However this is onbiously an older version that needs to be updated once the IaC deployment has finished.
When you do this using Veeam, then Veeam will destroy the Iac deployed resources and will create new resources that ultimately will not be part of the IaC state after the upgrade.
This is not a desired situation.
When will VBA be available from the marketplace as an image using version 7? If this is not part of the roadmap, then how are we supposed to incorporate any future VBA release in an IaC setup?
Kind regards,
Sjoerd van den Berg

Re: Veeam Backup for Azure and IaC
Hi Sjoerd van den Berg,
There are no plans to have an updated image for VB in the marketplace. The roadmap for VB is to become part of the VBR (tightly integrated and treated like a regular proxy). To allow the deployment automation via Terraform and other tools, we plan to have the corresponding APIs available in the upcoming major version of Veeam B&R.
Hope this help!

Is there any documentation on what we can expect regarding the workings of these API's?
Cheers!

Hi @bergsj,
No particular documentation on how it would look like precisely in VBR REST, but the plan is to mirror this deployment wizard available in VBR UI. Please also keep in mind that having it planned for the next major version is currently a subject to change.
Best regards,
Oleg
