Veeam Backup for MS Azure - cannot select Azure repository
Hi,
I've deployed Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure 6.0, all went OK, web admin app can be accessed and works as expected.
I followed the instructions how to configure Veeam appliance, create service account, then create Azure repo: first new storage account and container in Azure, then new storage repository in Veeam web admin app. The storage account and container was created and visible in Veeam without errors, the folders were also created and are visible in Azure.
But when I tried to create backup job/policy, there was nothing listed in repository selection drop-down. What am I missing? I was searching forums, documentation but found nothing that would help.
Since this is POC and we are using free Veeam App version (up to 10 VMs), we do not have a license for it. I've opened the case in Veeam support and linked it to one of our existing (on-prem) licenses (#03534753). I know that forum is not the place for support but I was hoping at least for some pointers where to look for errors. I've downloaded the log files but they are quite extensive and I don't know where to look for repo selection errors (there is nothing obvious or any "error" in ...\veeam\repository\... other than that repo was created in Azure...)

Hi! Could you please specify which access tier was used for the repository creation and which schedule type you selected in the backup policy wizard?

Hi! Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure supports repositories only in Hot, Cool, and Archive tiers.
Please select one of these options in the Add Repository wizard when creating the repository and try creating the policy schedule again.

Re: Veeam Backup for MS Azure - cannot select Azure repository
Hi,
thanks for info. I've checked all linked docs and restrictions, deleted the existing repo and started from 0:
- new Azure storage account:
Performance: Standard
Replication: Locally-redundant storage (LRS)
Account kind: StorageV2 (general purpose v2)
Hierarchical namespace: Disabled
Default access tier: Cool
Blob anonymous access: Disabled
Blob soft delete: Disabled
Container soft delete: Disabled
Versioning: Disabled
Change feed: Disabled
NFS v3: Disabled
Allow cross-tenant replication: Disabled
Storage tasks assignments: None
Require secure transfer for REST API operations: Enabled
Storage account key access: Enabled
Minimum TLS version Version: 1.2
Infrastructure encryption: Disabled
- created container inside storage account (no special settngs).
- created repo from Veeam web GUI:
Region: westeurope
Storage class: Archive
Immutability: Disabled
Encryption: Enabled
Type: Password
all was ok, no errors, veeam created folders in Azure blob.
- tried to create backup policy: selected all including Azure VM, selected daily retention -> configure:
Repository / Where do you want to store the daily retention: no repo available to be selected. Browse to select a target from the global list... also empty.
Is there any immutability/versioning that needs to be enabled in Azure? Are there any logs where I could check wha the list was returned empty?
Thank you for your help and kind regards.

Re: Veeam Backup for MS Azure - cannot select Azure repository
Hi, I've tried again from 0. This time in Veeam web appliance while creating Storage class I selected Auto-create all tiers + "create all tears automatically" and it worked! Three repos were created: hot cool and archive and now I can select them in backup jobs.
...so maybe I was missing hot repo or there is something else.

Archive storage class is not supported for daily or weekly backups, this is only available for long-term backups such as monthly and yearly. You can use Hot or Cool for daily and weekly backups.
