2012 R2 Core - Veeam BR Free Edition

Post by mb1811 »

Hi

we got a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Core Server with just one virtual machine running.

As I found in this brochure (http://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_free_ ... _en_ds.pdf) Veeam BR Free Edition should run on my Hyper-V Core:

Microsoft Hyper-V Infrastructure

Windows Server 2012 (through R2)
and 2008 R2 SP1 with Hyper-V
(including core)

Install works fine - nor errors. When starting c:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Veeam.Backup.Shell.exe I see the Veeam spash screen and then this error:

Class not registered (excepting HRESULT: 0x80040154
(REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

Any Ideas?

Core server is supported as Backup source for Veeam, as stated.
However it is not supported as machine to install product itself, because of lack of GUI libraries.

If the corresponding folder is accessible from the Veeam B&R console, you can select it as a target for VeeamZIP.
