Application aware backup of VM's in different networks

Post by Brad-Translucent »

We have a Hyper-V server that contains Virtual Switches that are assigned to different VLANs.
I have created a Windows 10 VM that has 2 network adaptors. One is assigned the VLAN that can talk to the B&R server, and the other is assigned the VLAN that is on the isolated network.
From what I have read I would need deploy the VM as a Backup Proxy, which I did as a general-purpose backup proxy, and the components were installed without issue. When I went to add the new proxy to the backup job, it could not talk to the VM's that are in the backup job.
I am not sure now what type of Proxy I should be deploying. A general-purpose proxy, or a Hyper-V off-host proxy.

My Google searching has not given anything to go by.

What you need is a Guest Interaction Proxy: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... proxy.html. However, you could consider deploying persistent agents on the VMs.
