Hi, we have two datacenters, and in each DC there is a hyper-v cluster, with a dedicated veeam server & windows repository.
Each server backs up the local cluster, and also copies the backup to the repository in the other datacenter.
This is a result of a management edict that we were not allowed a third site, so seemed like the best solution at the time.
It is now possible that we can implement a third site (albeit at severely restricted bandwidth). I would like to investigate putting a tape or immutable repository in this location - but I do not know if it would be possible to have two servers accessing one immutable repository or tape library.
Is there any sane way to implement this?
Many thanks!

Re: Architecture question - two servers, one tape/immutable repo?
Hello
A hardened repository cannot not be shared between two backup servers:

Have you considered to use immutable object storage as an alternative? You can create 2 immutable object storage buckets and use a backup copy job to copy the backups from each site to the bucket.
Another option would be to use a single backup server managing both sites. If both sides are managed by the same administration team, a single backup server would be the best option. It can manage backup jobs, proxies and repositories on all sides.
Best,
Fabian

Same for Tape server. A tape server belongs to one VBR only. You must add the Linux machine to the Veeam Backup & Replication console as a managed server. The hardened repository cannot be shared between different Veeam Backup & Replication servers.
