Backing up a Hyper-V VM with passthru disks?

Hello

I have a Hyper-V VM with passthru disks. Veeam gives a error saying it cant do it. I only want to backup the VM and OS, nothing else.

I tried just including the virtual disk and excluding the rest but same thing...

VMs with pass-through virtual disks cannot be processed due to Hyper-V 2016 and later checkpoints limitation according to our release notes (page 17).

You could backup the VM by deploying an agent into the VM. At that point the agent just treats the pass-through disks as if they are local disks within the VM.

Could you please explain a bit better how to do this?

Also, Id like to backup the VM by itself AND in a separate job, backup the data on the passthru drives (all data, nothing else). How can I do this?

Hi John!

You can deploy Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows into the vm and configure backup jobs or let Veeam B&R manage agent backups of this vm.
