Backup 2016 and 2012r2 clusters
Has anyone ever configured VEEAM Backup to backup both a 2012r2 Hyper-V cluster and a 2016 Hyper-V cluster? I have both of the consoles for Hyper-V installed on the server, I am able to configure the 2016 cluster but when I go to add the 2012 I get error “failed to reconnect PowerShell session”. I am able to connect to both clusters at the same time through their respective consoles. Any insight on this would be great.

Hello,
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve. Most customers have Hyper-V clusters, so backing up the VMs is not a matter of cluster or standalone Hyper-V.
No Hyper-V consoles need to be installed on the VBR server. Just add the cluster to VBR as described here
Best regards,
Hannes

Sorry, I failed to mention they are utilizing VMM 2012r2 and VMM 2016 which requires the consoles to be installed in order for VEEAM to talk to them. This is what is failing on the 2012r2 side.

Hello,
ah okay... if you don't plan to use SureBackup you could add the cluster directly (with SureBackup you would see orphaned VMs we delete automatically after running SureBackup).
To solve the problem, I suggest asking support for help. There could be several reasons. Please also post the case-ID here.
