Backup Copy - Rotated Drives Help

Post by pltit »

Hello - I am looking to configure a backup repository with two rotated drives. The idea is that a backup copy job will run on Sunday at say 11:00pm and deposit a backup onto one of the rotated drives. On the following Monday, the drive is swapped (offsite). When I create the backup copy job, if I ask Veeam to keep 4 restore points, will that put four active full backups on each drive over the course of time?

Thank you!

How are you going to present rotated drives to backup server? As directly attached storage or as CIFS share backed up by rotated drives? I'm asking because the latter scenario works a bit differently. Thanks.

Hello - Thank you for your reply. I was just going to keep things simple and use DAS - attached directly to the backup server via USB 3.0.

Got it, no issues, then. Retention will be applied on per-drive basis, meaning each drive will have 4 restore points. Thanks.
