Backup Copy weekends

Post by Bckup-Tom »

Hello !

We have 2 NAS devices:
a) Always online <= Backup VMs every night incremental forever, working fine :)
b) Weekend online, workdays offline <= Backup Copy

I create a Backup Copy Job:
-Copy every 7 Days starting at 00:00
-Schedule Saturday an Sunday

But the Copy Job also try to run at wensday, for example. :?:

Is there a logical Error ?

What is the best way to get only Backup Copy on weekend ?

Thank you
Tom

Hi,

So on the job tab you have copy every 7 days starting at 00:00. Are you using GFS or simple x number of restore points? And finally your schedule only allows to run From Saturday till end of Sunday.

All correct?

Hi Mike,

Tabs:
Job => Copy every 7 Day starting at 00:00
VM => 2 VMs selected
Target => Backup repository, qNap-Weekend
Restore points to keep 7
Data Transfer => Direct
Shedule => Saturday and Sunday Enable (blue)

Thank you !

I might be wrong but that seems unexpected. Could you log a support call and post the support case ID here (including the follow-up after that?)

Thanks

On what day did a backup copy job start originally? It might happen that originally the job started on Wednesday and this day now defines the expiration of previous interval and the beginning of new one.

Good idea Eremin !

Yes I created this job on last Wednesday. So I should disable and enable this job on Saturday ?

What do you mean when you say the job tries to run on Wednesday? Actually the job is continuous (so always runs) but it doesn't transfer any data if it is not allowed to do so by the scheduling settings. I believe you should re-create the job on the required day. Simply disabling and enabling it back on that day is not enough to change the day the interval starts.

This is a very imported discussion for us. Because we don’t understand how veeam things.

If I create a Backup-Copy-Job, I can only choose: Copy very 1 Day or very 1 Hour… starting at xx:yy
I can’t create the job on the required day.

Thank you !

Alternatively, you can just delete, create a backup copy job anew on Saturday.
