Backup: Hyper-V and Domain Controller roles on same host

Hello,

We have a customer with two hosts on which both Hyper-V and Domain Controller roles are installed.

Does Veeam support the backup of the Hyper-V VMs ( Exchange, SQL servers)?
If yes, are there any possible known issues that we need to be aware?

Hi Adrian,

1. Yes, absolutely, just make sure you enable "application-aware imaging processing" in the job settings for these VMs.
2. There are no known issues. What is your planned RPO for these VMs?

Cool!

We haven't set a RPO yet; the customer just briefly presented their environment to us and we wanted to be sure we are OK with their current design.
We will have a dedicated Veeam Console for them (which will also be the backup repository, 4 VMs' to be backup-ed, total size is just 500GB) on a VMware cluster and we plan to do onhost backup with the Veeam agent deployed directly on Hyper-V hosts.

Yes, your setup looks fine to me. Also since you're going to backup Exchange VMs, please take a look at Veeam Explorer for Exchange feature that would allow you to recover individual Exchange items.
