Backup VM hosted in Storage Spaces Direct cluster (S2D) with

Hi,

We are trying to put our brand new S2D cluster in production, but prior to do that, we need to validate our backup solution.

We have VEEAM Backup & Replication version 8.0, and the agents are installed on all the cluster nodes.

In the VEEAM console, we added the cluster as a Hyper-V cluster (we don't have VMM), and can list all the VM, so no issue in the Backup Infrastructure view.

The issue we have now : the backup of every VM fails with error :
Task failed Error: Vm configuration file was not found. ComponentName: [EE0D5487-04C5-4E26-ADF0-5C962844A6E0]

Is there anything we missed ? Could you confirm I can backup the VM hosted on a S2D cluster using VEEAM 8.0 ?

Hi,

Support for S2D was introduced in VBR 9.5, so you need to update in order to backup your VMs.

Anyone backing up vms running off of windows 2016/19 Storage Spaces Direct? Any issues?

Hi,

Provided that you're running VBR 9.5, there should be no issues with S2D on Windows 2016. As for Windows 2019 - it is not yet supported by VBR 9.5 U3a.
