Behavioural - Servers included multiple times
In my default scenario, where B&R is running on 2016 Datacenter VM Host you have a strange behaviour:
Be default the first Machine which is created is the Host itself shown per fresh install as "Windows Server".
Because there are several Hyper-V VMs running, i have to add the same Hostname as Hyper-V Server.
Now i have two Server with the same hostname. The same hostname is shown in job properties so i can select between host1.domain.example.com or host1.domain.example.com which is obvious the same machine.
But with two backup instanced hyper-v and normal physcial host.
Because i cant delete the physical host from B&R i have to keep both.
Now the dropdown box has these redundant information and i dont know which one to select.
If you want to add more strange behaviour, just add the machine a third time and name it: host1.
Then there is a third instance of the same host.
Very strange... and i fear this will lead to trouble someday.
Request to Dev's:
1) Veeam has to detect if the same machine is already added by hostname or FQDN, IP, etc. at least FQDN and hostname should be matched as the same identity.
2) Veeam has to state how users should add their systems in this configuration. its strange to see the same host two times..

Hi,
Do you mean that at the "Virtual Machines" step of the backup job wizard you see multiple occurrences of the only host that you have?
Thanks

yes, for example.
it shows:
host1
host1
but its the same host. one configured per fixed default as windows server.
another one from windows hyper-v standalone host.

Well, actually it does not matter which hosts you choose from those two since it is the same one Hyper-V host. Anyway, we will look into the problem.
Thank you for your feedback

Re: Behavioural - Servers included multiple times
Ok so its safe.
But i changed Repository etc. to the Hyper-V Host.
But i am unable to remove the Windows Server from "Managed Servers->Microsoft Windows".
I would prefer to remove this one and keep "Managed Servers->Microsoft Hyper-V->Standalone Hosts" only.
Is that possible?

Re: Behavioural - Servers included multiple times
It is not possible. Servers are displayed under every node that matches their roles and type. In this case the server is displayed under "Managed"-"Windows" because of its OS type, and under "Microsoft Hyper-V" because of its role in your infrastructure.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Behavioural - Servers included multiple times
ok so you should add an node for servers by name only and if you press + you should see all roles.
that would be more handy :-)
